About Me
dressing plain clothes up with jewelry

I love to wear all black all of the time. I have several different suits, dresses and outfits that are black from head to toe. To jazz up the plain black clothing, I use jewelry and accessories. If you like to wear plain clothing and feel kind of bland as you walk around through the day, it is time for you to look into wearing jewelry. My blog will provide you with several tips for accessorizing without spending a fortune on jewelry that will make your traditional, plain clothing look dull and boring instead of increasing your sense of style.

Unique Ways To Display Jewelry

A jewelry drawer organizer, such as drawer inserts by Lovely Jewelry Organizers, is indispensable for keeping earrings together and necklaces untangled. It keeps jewelry neat and makes accessorizing in the morning a snap. But there's also something to be said for displaying jewelry. Necklaces, earrings and bracelets can be works of art and, with a little imagination, can be displayed that way. Read on for some ideas for unusual ways to store jewelry.

Frames

A frame can display jewelry in all sorts of ways. Stretch a piece of lace across the opening; the tiny openings between stitches are perfect for earring posts. You could also arrange wine corks inside a frame and stick earrings into them. String wires from one side of the frame to the other and hang earrings from the wires or use s-hooks to display necklaces and bracelets. An old window screen, radiator screen or even chicken wire can all be painted and framed to display jewelry.

Table Top Displays

Dressing areas that are short on wall space but rich in surface space can be dressed up with tabletop jewelry displays. The holes in a painted cheese grater are perfect for holding earrings. Eye-catching and mismatched teacups and saucers found at the flea market or borrowed from grandma's cabinet are just the right size to hold a couple pairs of earrings, rings or a chunky necklace that won't tangle. Serving trays can hold long necklaces and can be upcycled with a coat of paint or some pretty paper that suits the jewelry owner's fancy.

Natural Elements

A large piece of driftwood or a pretty branch hung from the wall can be the perfect place to drape long necklaces. Even an antler-bearing animal skull or head -- real or faux -- hung from the wall can look feminine if those antlers are sporting a necklace collection. Antlers sans skull are another unusual option for those who feel an entire head hanging on the wall is a bit macabre.

Other Hangings

Any type of collection can be used to display jewelry if it's hung on a wall or even on the side of a cabinet. Towel racks painted to match the room's decor, antique spools, unusual door knobs or drawer pulls or a collection of wooden plaques fitted with tiny hooks can all make wonderful jewelry displays. Even a jewelry drawer organizer can be repurposed as a wall hanging. If it's fitted with hooks, it can easily display necklaces and bracelets on the wall.
